Honda’s first global EV model had a short lifespan!

Ana sayfa / News

The automotive industry is undergoing a major transformation, bidding farewell to models with internal combustion engines, and embracing electric vehicles in these times. Throughout this process, manufacturers are also keen on expanding their electric model lineups. However, the lifespan of some electric models isn’t as long as expected.

Honda E will not live long

One of the models bidding farewell without achieving the expected interest is the Honda E. As Honda’s first EV model in the global market, the Honda E will not see its next generation due to the gradual shrinking of the small hatchback market and the increasing demand for SUVs.

Introduced in 2020 and released in various markets as a four-door EV, it is powered by an electric motor generating 152 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque. This cute little car, transferring power to the rear wheels, offers a range of 211 kilometers according to WLTP standards with its 35.5 kWh battery.

The legendary car continues its journey as an EV!

Mazda has officially announced that the new generation of the MX-5 Miata will be introduced in 2026 and will be "electric."

Following the small car ‘E‘ model, Honda continues its electric vehicle efforts with the e:Ny1 model, which entered the European market. The brand intends to address customers’ SUV demands with this vehicle. The e:Ny1 model, with 201 horsepower, offers a range of 421 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle.

With the rising demand for SUVs, Honda has started phasing out its other models. In this context, Honda, which couldn’t achieve the desired numbers with the Honda E, seems to be preparing to pull the plug on the small electric car.

When first introduced, the Honda E managed to capture the attention of many car enthusiasts with its both interior and exterior design. However, it seems that the time has come to say goodbye to the Honda E due to its low range caused by the outdated platform and the increasing interest in SUV models. What are your thoughts on the Honda E and other EV models from the brand? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section.
